Chart β Technical Indicators
Indicators are studies layered onto the chart β either on the price (overlays like moving averages) or in their own sub-pane below it (oscillators like RSI). FutPrint ships a broad library covering classic technicals as well as order-flow, profile and options-specific studies.
Adding an indicator
- 1Open the indicator browser
Click Indicators in the chart toolbar. The browser lists categories on the left, the indicators in the middle, and a Settings / Templates / About pane on the right. Your own scripts are the My Scripts category, an Open Script Editor button sits above the search box, and indicators already on the chart are listed under Added at the bottom.
- 1Find the indicator
Pick a category to narrow the list, or type in Search indicatorsβ¦. Click the star beside an indicator to keep it under Favorites.
- 1Select it and review its settings
Click the indicator. Its options appear in the Settings pane so you can adjust them before adding; the About tab gives a short description.
- 2Add it
Press Add Indicator. Overlays draw on the price; other studies open in their own pane below the chart. The indicator now appears under Added.
Changing an indicator's settings
There are two ways in:
- From the browser β open Indicators and click the indicator under Added. Its options load in the Settings pane; changes apply as you make them, and Done closes the browser. The Γ beside it removes the indicator.
- From the chart legend β hover the indicator's row at the top-left of the chart and use the icons that appear: the eye hides or shows it, the gear opens its settings, and the Γ removes it.
Indicators in their own pane (CVD, Bar Statistics and others) also have controls on the pane title: Collapse, Maximize pane, Auto-fit scale, Hide, Settings and Remove. Drag the divider above a pane to resize it: between two panes it moves height from one to the other, and the top divider trades height with the price chart. Pane heights are kept as a share of the chart, so a layout keeps its proportions when the window changes size or opens on another screen. On a short chart the panes shrink to fit and the price chart keeps room for its candles; panes that still do not fit wait behind a +N panes chip.
A hidden pane leaves a thin, greyed title strip in its place with a Show button, so it is never lost; it runs no calculation while hidden. Collapse folds a pane to the same strip but keeps its live values for the bar under the cursor; the arrow on the strip expands it again. Hide All Panes in the chart's right-click menu hides every pane at once, and Show All Panes brings them back. In TPO view the panes fold to strips, because they cannot follow the profile columns.
Right-click a pane's plot or title for its menu: settings, Add alert at the level you clicked (for indicators the alert server supports), Hide, Auto-fit scale, Maximize pane, Move pane up, Move pane down and Remove. On a touch screen the β― button on the pane title opens the same menu. Removing an indicator shows a message with Undo; Ctrl/Cmd+Z also brings it back with its settings, its place and its height.
The arrow under the legend collapses it to a single Indicators chip when you want the chart clear.
Templates and defaults
The Templates tab, in an indicator's settings and in the Indicators browser, keeps named sets of its settings in your account, so a Volume Profile or CVD set up the way you like it can be applied on any chart in any workspace:
- Save as new stores the current settings under a name; Apply puts a saved template onto the indicator you are editing, and Cancel still restores the settings you started from. Update selected and Delete template maintain the list.
- Save as default makes the current settings the starting point for every new instance of that indicator you add from the Indicators browser. Indicators already on your charts, and saved layouts and workspaces, are not changed. Clear default returns new instances to the factory settings.
- In the browser, with an indicator selected from the library but not yet added, Apply sets the settings the Add button will use, so a template can be chosen before the indicator reaches the chart.
Templates hold the indicator's own settings, never the chart's symbol, interval, session, lot size or footprint bin size, which follow the chart the indicator is on. Scripts keep their templates per saved library script. Templates count towards your plan's template allowance alongside chart and drawing templates.
Managing everything on the chart
Layer Manager in the chart toolbar lists every layer on the chart β the price series, each indicator and your drawings β in drawing order. Use it to hide, lock, reorder or remove layers, and to group them.
The library, by category
Moving Averages
- Moving Average β multiple types/lengths for trend and dynamic support/resistance.
Oscillators
- RSI, MACD, MFI, CCI, Stochastic Oscillator, Stochastic RSI, Williams %R, Awesome Oscillator, Rate of Change, TRIX, KST, Force Index.
Trend & Directional
- ADX, Parabolic SAR, Ichimoku Cloud, Gann Levels.
Volatility
- ATR, Bollinger Bands.
Volume
- Volume, OBV, Volume Profile, Stepped Volume Profile, Cumulative Volume Delta.
Order-flow & Delta
- Delta, Delta Cluster, Footprint Summary, Bar Statistics.
Profile & Market Structure
- Market Profile, Williams Fractals, Option Strikes, Option Strikes Profile.
Pattern Recognition
- Candlestick Patterns.
Options & Greeks
- Implied Volatility, Delta, Gamma, Theta, Vega, Rho β study option greeks and IV directly on the chart.
- Gamma Blast β the option chain's dealer gamma drawn on an index futures chart: call/put walls, the zero-gamma flip, a greeks table and entry markers with stop and target.
Price
- Typical Price.
Trend/level studies (moving averages, Bollinger Bands, VWAP, SAR, Ichimoku, profiles) draw on the price. Oscillators (RSI, MACD, Stochastic, MFI, CCI, β¦) and volume/delta studies open in their own sub-pane so they don't crowd the candles.
Once you've got a chart configured the way you like β type, indicators and styling β save it with the Templates Manager and apply it to any other chart in one click.
